Sat 3 December 2016 - Tue 6 December 2016
After its resounding success on the 20th Le Jog in 2014, finishing 38th out of 77 entrants, oldest car to finish, and raising over £2600 for both Ty Gobaith and Cae Dai Trust, the Tortoise completed a 3392 miles round trip on the 2016 Monte Carlo Classique, starting in John O’Groats.
Not one to stand still – the little green car aptly named the Flying Tortoise with its top speed of 55mph is once again taking up the challenge of travelling from Land's End to John O'Groats!
Considered by participants as one of the most demanding and challenging events in Europe and a definite to be ticked on your “must do” events list LE JoG Reliability Trial and Classic Car Tour is open to cars built before 1986. Tough conditions are to be expected, but no-one crosses the finish line without a smile on their face and Ian and Nick are doing it all over again to raise money us this year!
The route is timed and mainly on back roads and lanes during the approximately 1,400 miles of the rally itself. Total mileage is in the region of 2,500 assuming no problems or breakdowns.
In addition to sponsoring Ian and Nick, simply estimate the distance the car will cover (remember it could break down!) and you could be in with a chance to win a fabulous three night stay for two at the exclusive Chateau Rhianfa, overlooking the Menai Straits in North Wales and entry is just £2 for one try or £5 for three, with every penny of entry money going to the charities.
The winner will be notified as soon as possible after the event finishes on December 6th and cars taking part can be seen in Ewloe in the early hours of Sunday, December 4th.
