The Ensemble plays an active part in the MBNA Chester Music Festival; programming their own concerts and performing with friends. For the audience, this means access to incredibly immersive performances that would ordinarily be off-limits, all in the intimate yet spectacular surroundings of our specially constructed stage at Chester Town Hall.
Ensemble Deva regularly features soloists and section leaders from the country’s greatest symphony orchestras – Tim Jackson from the Liverpool Philharmonic, Lynsey Marsh from the Hallé and Rachael Clegg, Hannah Roberts and Richard Williamson from Manchester Camerata. Add world-renowned soloists Martin Roscoe (piano), Ksenija Sidorova (accordion) and Thomas Gould (violin) along with the highly respected pianist Gwilym Simcock and Ensemble Deva is truly a force to be reckoned with.
Formed just a few years ago and debuting at the 2013 MBNA Chester Music Festival, the ensemble have quickly earned enviable praise and recognition having been declared a ‘god-send to the music circuit’ by the Daily Telegraph’s Michael White. The Ensemble have gone from strength to strength and now embark on a new adventure as they invest in young and aspiring talent through the Deva Academy. In a unique partnership with the Royal Northern College of Music, the 2015 festival featured an Academy Concert where student players had the opportunity to perform alongside senior members of Ensemble Deva. Plus, the Ensemble’s saxophonist Rob Buckland hosted a dedicated education day for aspiring musicians.
Each year at the festival, the Ensemble perform in a selection of events, concerts and recitals for which tickets are made available at fantastic prices. Chester Performs members can purchase an Ensemble Deva pass, offering great savings and gaining access to all the Ensemble’s fabulous concerts.
Alongside the festival in 2016, Ensemble Deva will be performing in specially programmed concerts across the year.
